Sompong Promkaew's sedan, crushed beneath the fallen talo tree at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep on Monday morning. (Photo (@K5_Rescue)A man was extremely fortunate to survive when his car was crushed by a falling tree as he was parking it in front of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai’s Muang district on Monday morning. A large old talo tree (Schima wallichii choisy) fell as he was parking about 7.30am, crushing the driver's side of the sedan. Mr Sompong had been parking the car after dropping off relatives for a visit to the temple. The old talo tree seemed to be strong enough so it was left untrimmed.
